Rock the Night Away: New Member and Conference Welcome Reception ($15)
Join us in the private room at the Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Indianapolis to welcome the new ILF members and celebrate the beginning of this year's rockin' conference. With great food, pool tables, music and libations, there will be plenty of ways for all to relax and catch up with your peers and help kick off this year's conference theme. Dress as your favorite rocker or come as you are... Let's show the city of Indianapolis that libraries do indeed rock!

IPLA/ILTA Luncheon: "You're Born and Then You Die: the Need for Humor in the Work Place" ($28)
Will Manley will take a not so serious look at a serious subject...creating a friendly, humane, and productive working environment. Hint: the key is laughter. Double hint: there will be no power point presentation. Triple hint: bring a puppet. (IPLA Business Meeting to follow in the same room. ILTA Business Meeting will be back in the Trustee Room at the Convention Center.)

CYPD Luncheon Featuring Dr. Camila Alire, ALA Immediate Past President ($28)
The 2009-2010 ALA President Camila Alire's will share her initiative - Libraries: the Heart of All Communities. She will focus on practical tools to help frontline library staff identify those opportunities to advocate for the value of libraries and their own value on a daily basis.

YHBA Banquet ($38 - Adult, $15 - 10 & under)
Join us as we honor the Young Hoosier Book Award winning authors for 2008-2009. The purpose of the Young Hoosier Book Award is to promote recreational reading among Indiana students. Last year over 68,180 students participated and voted for their favorite books. The winners include Bad Kitty, by Nick Bruel; The Ghost's Grave, by Peg Kehret; and The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan.

Awards & Honors Banquet ($38)
A wide variety of awards and scholarships will be given to recognize the efforts of those groups and individuals who have contributed to the excellence of Indiana Libraries. The banquet will also feature Professor Paul R. Mullins who is an award-winning author and anthropologist. His research interests focus on the relationship between racism and material consumption. His book Race and Affluence: An Archaeology of African America and Consumer Culture received the 2000 John L. Cotter Award from the Society for Historical Archaeology. His most receive book, Glazed America: A History of the Doughnut, was published in September 2008. He is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI).

AIME Business Meeting & Luncheon Featuring Nancy Everhart, Current AASL President ($28)
Spend some time networking and visiting with your colleagues and friends. Then, the current AASL President, Nancy Everhart, will start out the luncheon after a brief introduction from Val Edwards, the Midwest AASL Representative. Nancy will give an overview on new initiatives and updates on the national level. The AIME Business Meeting will follow.

IALA Luncheon Featuring Vicki Burns from the University of Rochester ($28)
Vicki Burns is the Head of Rush Rhees Reference at the Rush Rhees Library, Rochester University. She will share the ethnographic projects they have done and the latest work related to supporting research and writing. She will give a demonstration of the IR plus product (open source) which was developed here and is implemented in our institutional repository, UR Research.
