Keynote Speakers

Thomas Frey, Futurist and Executive Director of the DaVinci Institute will be the keynote speaker on Tuesday, November 15. Frey will discuss the declining importance of “ink-on-paper” books and how it creates many exciting new opportunities for the evolution of next generation libraries. He will also focus on ways for libraries to expand their influence among their constituency. His talk is the perfect compliment to long range planning, strategic visioning, library development, facility modeling, and architectural design efforts. Because of Frey’s work inspiring inventors and other revolutionary thinkers, The Boulder Daily Camera has referred to him as the “Father of Invention.” The Denver Post and Seattle Post Intelligencer have referred to him as the “Dean of Futurists.” Save the date as his keynote talk is not to be missed!

On Wednesday, November 16, Gene Ambaum and Bill Barnes from Unshelved will deliver laughs as they take you on a tour of the world’s only library comic strip. The staff and patrons of the Mallville Public Library are instantly recognizable, and will give you a unique opportunity to gently laugh at yourselves and the people you work with on both sides of the desk. This is a must-see keynote as it has garned standing ovations at dozens of state and regional library conferences, library schools, library staff development days, and corporate customer meetings!
