Copyright
Happens....an Uncommon Workshop on Avoiding Common Pitfalls
1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., Indiana Convention Center
& RCA Dome
$25 Member - $40 Non-Member
Copyright is unavoidable and can raise troubling questions in the library
and beyond. When can you make copies? When should you avoid them? How,
or more importantly, can, you preserve fragile resources by making copies
of them before they disappear? Can you make those copies or other resources
more widely available using digital resources? Are electronic resources
covered by copyright, a license signed by the library, or both? Exploring
some principles about copyright and how it applies to these and other
everyday questions in the library is the focus of this workshop. Participants
will gain a better understanding of fair use and other exemptions that
address many library activities today and will discuss various copyright
issues confronting librarians now and that will arise in the future.
Bring your questions and expect some surprises along the way.
