A variety of supervised child visits are happening in public libraries throughout Indiana. ILF initiated a collaboration with IN Department of Child Services and key contractors in order to create a shared understanding about challenges and best practices for children, parents, caregivers, libraries and DCS administrators. ILF hosted dialogue about the issue through workshop sessions and conference calls in 2017. ILF is finalizing a best practice guide for supervised visits.

Join this session for an interactive discussion about the issue, needs, challenges and best practices identified to date. Thanks to Beth Yates of the Indiana State Library and member of the ILF Youth Services Division Leadership Team for helping facilitate this session.

Registrants will receive the virtual meeting link. You may interact in one of three ways: through your microphone on your computer, via the chat box or via telephone.

UPDATE: Several have asked if we will record this virtual exchange. It is not our practice to record virtual exchanges, as we aim to foster open dialogue among ILF members. We want our members to feel free to ask questions, make comments, offer suggestions and help lead the work forward. To meet the educational need expressed in the emails received to date, we will aim to offer a shorter, recorded session of best practices identified in the guide.
