ILF members identify their primary and secondary roles in libraries, as ILF members may serve in multiple roles (i.e. a school librarian who is also a public library trustee, or a retired academic librarian who is also a Friend). ILF members may participate in activities across affiliations, as increased cross-sector collaboration is a priority for ILF. Each affiliation has an association advisory board, which meets 2-6 times per year to provide advice and support to the ILF Office and Board of Directors in carrying out the work of the Federation. Each advisory board provides guidance to the specific type of library or supporter.
