Students Join ALA and your state library association (chapter) for one low price. Indiana is one of 37 chapters to allow students to ILF and ALA for one low price of $38, from now through August 31, 2017. To apply for joint student membership online go to: and complete the online form through ALA's secure database.

New Personal Members
The Indiana Library Federation offers a one-time initial personal membership of $40 to anyone who wishes to join under the condition that the individual has never been a member of the Indiana Library Federation.

In order to be eligible to vote in the ILF Executive Board election, membership must be received by the ILF office at least six weeks prior to the annual business meeting in order to vote in the current year's election of officers.

  6. Divisions, Committees and Districts
    ILF members in the many divisions, committees and districts help implement the work of the organization. The divisions focus on specific types of library employment, provide network and training opportunities and provide ideas to annual conference planners. Committees help the ILF to achieve goals in the strategic plan; the districts promote membership and plan one-day conferences tailored to their regional needs.

  7. Public Awareness and Program Support
    ILF works to increase the visibility of libraries, library workers and library issues. This includes a variety of materials that help libraries to strengthen their communication and outreach efforts, especially on how to better community the library’s value. Popular programs at school libraries such as the Young Hoosier Book Award, the Eliot Rosewater, and the Read Alouds program are supported through the ILF office and the work of the Association of Indiana School Library Educators.

  8. ILF Staff Support
    The five-member office, located in Indianapolis, is open five days per week to provide assistance on a myriad of issues, to provide conference planning support and more.
