Vice President 2024 - Vote for one

Nathan Jochum, Public Library Director, Perry County Public Library 

Nathan Jochum is the Director (since August 2022) at the Perry County Public Library in Tell City, Indiana. He has been working in libraries in one capacity or another for almost twenty years, including over seventeen years at the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library. He received his bachelor’s degree in PR/Advertising from the University of Southern Indiana and his Master’s in Library and Information Science from Drexel University in 2009. Nathan has spent many years volunteering his time in the performing arts scene, including serving on the national Music Library Association Public Library Board, and as a business mentor (and former Chapter Chair) for SCORE. He served as Co-Director of ParksFest Music Festival in Evansville, IN from 2018-2022 and won the Individual Achievement in Arts award presented by Leadership Everyone in 2022. His love for community, partnerships, and experiences run deep. So does his advocacy of free speech, the underserved, equal access, and rights for everyone. Currently he serves on the Executive Board for Tell City Regional Arts, is a member of the Tell City Historical Society, ILF, is on the local Community Foundation review board, helps produce a weekly podcast, is an avid concert goer, and record collector.

Julie Wendorf, Public Library Director, Crown Point Community Library 

Julie Wendorf entered librarianship after working as an HS/MS English teacher. She started working in libraries in 2010 as a Reference Assistant and received her MLS in 2015. Her first professional librarian position was the first Adult Programming and Outreach Librarian at Crown Point Community Library. She became Director at the same library in 2018. She participated in the ALA Leadership Institute (2018), ISL Indiana Library Leadership Academy(2018), and the Leadership Institute at Purdue Northwest (2022-2023). She is active in community service organizations including Rotary International, Lions Club, and is a member of the Board of the Friends of Crown Point Adult Learning Center. She has a passion for library collaboration projects with other community organizations and doing library outreach. She has actively served in ILF on the IPLA Board, the Public Service Division Committee, the Advocacy committee, and most recently a public library representative on the ILF Board (2023). She has been serving ILF since she entered librarianship and would like to continue to serve ILF in a more significant way. She would like to see all types of libraries elevated and recognized for the role they play in making an impact in their communities and advocating for learning at all stages of life.

Austin Stroud, Public Library Director, Monon Town and Township Public Library 

Austin Stroud started his career in libraries at the Mitchell Community Public Library (Indiana) in 2000, while still in high school. Since then, he has held a variety of roles at other libraries in Indiana, including in Bedford, Indiana University, Brownsburg, Monroe County, and Bloomfield.  Since August 2020, he has been the library director of the Monon Town and Township Public Library. In Monon, he is active in the community in serving as a board member and webmaster for the Monon Civic Preservation Society, serving as the North White School Corporation's Lilly Scholarship representative, and a board member with All Aboard Monon. In addition, Austin works as an adjunct faculty member at Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana University Indianapolis (IUPUI), University of Kentucky, and Valdosta State University. He teaches a mix of English, library, and IT courses. He has completed a Bachelor of Science in Labor Studies and a Master of Science in Education/Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, and a Master of Library Science from IUPUI. Austin is currently a 2nd year PhD student in Information Studies at Dominican University, and also is working toward an Associate's degree in Software Development at Ivy Tech Community College to strengthen his technical skills. He is a 2014 graduate of the Indiana State Library's Librarian Leadership Academy, a current Evergreen Indiana patron services committee member, and has been involved in ILF in the past through multiple conference presentations and as an officer for the young professionals division.  

School Library Representative 2024

Terri Ramos, School Librarian, Carmel High School

Terri Ramos is the school media specialist for Carmel High School. Terri began her career as an English and French teacher at Griffith High School in 1997.  In 2003 she moved into the role of teacher librarian for grades 7-12, serving Griffith Middle and High Schools.  In 2004, after earning her MLS she began working with the paraprofessionals assigned in each of the elementary schools in Griffith.  Many years later Terri served as the District Media Specialist for Lake Ridge Schools in Gary, Indiana.  From there, Terri moved to the Carmel Clay School system in 2013.  Since then Terri has served as one of two school media specialists at the high school.  Terri is the Department Chair of Media and Communications wherein she provides leadership for the library staff as well as the teachers of newspaper, radio, television and yearbook.  She also supervises the district catalogers who travel to the 14 schools in the district.  She is a member of the Indiana Library Federation and the American Library Association.  She is a member of the Young Hoosier Book Award Picture Book committee as well as the Awards and Scholarships committee.  Terri is the founding superintendent of the Hamilton County 4H Reading Project which she started in the fall of 2021.

Kristi L. Palmer, Herbert Simon Family Dean, IUPUI University Library 

Kristi L. Palmer is the Herbert Simon Family Dean of IUPUI University Library. She earned a B.A. in History from Ball State University in 1999 and a Master in Library Science from Indiana University in 2003.  She worked in digital library development for 18 years, served as IUPUI’s History and Women’s Studies librarian, and as an adjunct professor with the now IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Palmer’s current interests include equity, diversity, inclusion and justice in libraries; and Indianapolis history.  Her digital library and community engaged work earned recognition as one of Library Journal’s Movers & Shakers in 2009 and Indianapolis Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2016. 

Public Library Representative 2024

Judi Terpening, Public Library Director, Jefferson County Public Library 

 Judi Terpening joined the library world in 2009 and completed her MLS from IUPUI in 2015. She has worked in a variety of roles in public libraries: circulation manager, collection development and reference, youth services coordinator, branch manager, assistant director, and since 2018 as library director. She has served on both the Evergreen Indiana Executive and Patron Services committees. In ILF, Judi has chaired the Awards Committee, volunteered at conferences, and most recently finished out a previously vacant term on the board. She has also actively worked and advocated for supportive legislation for libraries. Judi would like to continue to volunteer as an ILF board member to serve all Indiana libraries. 

Trustee/Friends of the Library Representative 2024

Gigi Shook, Retired School Librarian, Center Grove Community Schools

Gigi Shook is a retired school librarian. She worked 38 years for Center Grove Community Schools. She retired in 2016 as district media specialist. During her professional career she was a member of the Read Aloud Committee and the Young Hoosier Book Award. She continues to serve on the Young Hoosier Intermediate Committee in retirement. She also served as a past president of Association of Indiana School Library Educators. She received her B.S. from Ball State University in 1976. In 1980 she received her MLS from Ball State University. In retirement she continues to support libraries by being a member of the Friends of the Johnson County Public Library Board as Treasurer. 

At-Large Representative 2024

Jordan Orwig, Public Library Director, Sullican County Public Library 

Jordan Orwig has been the director of the Sullivan County Public Library since 2015 and worked at a local newspaper for six years before that. Since he began his library career, he has taken a role on a number of divisions within the Indiana Library Federation, including the Small and Medium Sized Library committee and the Indiana Public Library Association advisory committee, where he is the current chair. He has also been involved in a number of library leadership groups, such as the Indiana Library Leadership Academy through the Indiana State Library, as well as the current Management Cohort organized by the ILF. Jordan also serves on the board of directors for Pace Community Action Agency, Inc., a not-for-profit industry that provides services to the counties of Daviess, Greene, Knox, and Sullivan. 

ALA Councilor 2024

Jos N. Holman, County Librarian, Tippecanoe County Public Library 

Jos N. Holman began his library career as a Branch Manager and Children’s Librarian. Jos has served Indiana libraries for 27 years, since 2002 as the County Librarian of the Tippecanoe County Public Library. Jos served as director of the Alexandrian Public Library (Mt. Vernon, IN) from 1996-2002. He was one of several founding members and the first treasurer of the Indiana Black Librarians Network in 2002. Jos has been a champion for cost-efficient resource-sharing, having served twice as president of INCOLSA and on the committee that imagined and launched INSPIRE in 1998. In the Lafayette community, Jos has expanded library services with the construction of three new branches and innovative collaborations with local agencies. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Tippecanoe Arts Federation and is a member of the City of Lafayette Redevelopment Commission. He serves on the Steering Committee of Greater Lafayette’s Diversity RoundTable.

Jos is a native Texan who also worked as a librarian in Massachusetts and Ohio before coming to Indiana. Prior to entering library work, Jos earned a BFA in Theater. He is a storyteller in the oral tradition and has presented public performances for 50 years, including Oral Interpretations of Black Poetry and as an actor/performer in two local theater productions. Jos Holman brings extensive service (and awards) from both the Indiana Library Federation and American Library Association, including ILF’s Outstanding Librarian Award. Many in Indiana know him from his leadership and chairmanship of the ILF Legislative/Advocacy Committee, where he facilitated meetings, fall forum and statehouse day events, and advanced library policies. His service within ALA includes many roles, including having served as the past president of the Black Caucus of the ALA (BCALA), and on Newbery and Caldecott juries. He is currently chair of the ALA Award Committee.  Having served one term as Indiana’s Chapter Councilor, Jos Holman is willing to continue to serve as ALA defends intellectual freedom and fights against censorship of literary content reflective of our diverse social fabric.  Jos Holman will do his best to be an effective voice for Indiana’s libraries within and without the profession.
