Join our web-based virtual exchange on Monday, May 20, 10amET/9amCT about "Local Income Tax and Libraries." This web-based session will help library board members, directors and staff understand Local Income Taxes, certified shares and distributions. There is no cost to attend.

Local Income Tax - On average, 23% of public library revenues are from Local Income Tax (LIT), ranging from 0% to 89%. Learn about how a LIT Council may seeks to change the distribution. Learn about the debate that went into HEA1427 related to LIT. It is important to understand the impact on your community, as the legislature may be changing LIT in future years. HEA1427 included a recommendation for interim study of LIT and GIS mapping. Here are the documents you may download related to the LIT presentation:

BACKGROUND

Note that Tamara Ogle and Larry DeBoer covered a little bit about LIT (starting Slide 20) in their 5/1 Library Tax presentation UPDATED post session - See Additional Information on percentage of property tax. Also note the Q&A from the end of the session and the Recording of the session.
