Why have leadership/membership calls?

Indiana Library Federation is comprised of 4 associations, 10 committees, 16 divisions, and 8 districts--with about 200 leaders of our 2,000 members. We work to keep our leaders and members informed and engaged. We hope you have participated in or watched the recordings.

ILF will launch a Strategic Visioning process on February 3, at the Hamilton East Public Library. We regret that space will limit the number of attendees. A board committee is assembling a group of 70 leaders, members and stakeholders who represent all types and sizes of libraries and job responsibilities; the list should be finalized by 1/15. Be assured that there are many ways to have input into the process.

We will consider what libraries and library staff need to thrive in the future. Indiana is facing changes in demographics, economy, technology and politics, which affects consumer demand, public and private funding and so much more. We need you to help us anticipate and plan for the future.

Throughout 2016, ILF has been laying the foundation for a stronger future. Approved by the board in August, we have already made significant progress on the ILF Work Plan,   in stabilizing ILF, engaging members, aligning our programs and increasing transparency and accountability. We have worked to engage members in the process, but also recognize that members are inundated with information. We want members and leaders like you to understand the direction and data-driven process. Change is not easy. We need you to serve as our feedback loop, our constructive critics, our ambassadors and our champions for positive change.

Every decision we face has tradeoffs. Help us evaluate those tradeoffs with an eye toward the future. We hope you will be a part of creating our future together.

Thank you. Feel free to call or email us or any of the ILF Board.

Any ILF Member or Leader may participate in these calls. Recordings are also made available for those unable to attend live.
