Serve as a Volunteer or Member Leader

Want to volunteer?

Volunteers are the heart of the Indiana Library Federation. Library supporters--including staff, students, and advocates--may volunteer with conferences, events, and projects. Members may volunteer to participate in a leadership role, including on a Division Leadership Team, Affiliation Advisory Board, Committee, or the ILF Board
of Directors

What happens next?

  • Meet with ILF staff. Discuss interests, skills and availability to match you with the best opportunity.
  • Appointments to leadership are usually two-year terms (or shorter to fill vacancies).
  • Short-term volunteer opportunities are available to assist with at events, with special projects and in the office.
  • Committees and leadership teams sometimes have waiting lists (i.e. Book Awards). We work to find a place for you to become involved during the waiting period.
  • We aim to support you in your personal and professional growth as a leader.

  Benefits of serving in an
ILF Leadership Role:

  • Develop a professional network.
  • Enhance your leadership skills.
  • Support libraries by supporting your association.
  • Make an impact in real time.
  • Gain experience and service
    points in promotion and tenure.
