Library Trustee Membership

ILF offers a Library Trustee Membership option, which includes many benefits for just $45. Institutional Members do receive free Trustee Memberships. Please follow the Institutional Member instructions below to claim your free memberships. Anyone registering as a trustee who is not employed at an Institutional Member library can register using the same steps below, but will select the $45 registration option.

  • Participation in ILF business (Board of Directors, committees, associations, divisions, taskforces)
  • Supporting our advocacy and intellectual freedom efforts, including our lobbying team at Taft Legal Affairs
Follow the steps below for instructions on how to register:

Trustees WITHOUT an ILF Membership Profile AND Under an Institutional Membership 

Please submit our "New Member Application" for each trustee membership.

Once on the page please scroll down to “New Users” and enter the email address you would like associated with your account and click "Register."  

Once registered, enter the information requested via the form. In the "Membership Type" field, please select 'Library Trustee'.
Please note that the form will present two options to select from. Select the $0 option if applying under an Institutional Member Library.  

Finish the form to set up your profile and begin receiving member communications. 

If your library is an ILF Institutional Member and you've already joined ILF as a Library Trustee member for the $45 rate, we'll refund you the cost of your membership. Please contact staff at [email protected] and she will update your account accordingly.  

Trustees WITH an Existing ILF Membership Profile
The new member form can only be completed once, so if you have completed the New Membership Application Form previously, it will not allow you to proceed to avoid duplicate account creation. If you receive this message, please contact staff at [email protected] and she will work you to get your profile updated for 2026 membership.

Please note that this application is for new members only. You cannot renew your membership through this application. It will create a duplicate account in the system and not applied to your open renewal invoice. If you need to renew your membership and are outside the renewal period, please email [email protected] for assistance.
