This training covers essential governance responsibilities, including:

  • Legal and financial oversight
  • Supporting and evaluating the library director
  • Effective staff and trustee roles
  • Mission, direction, and purpose
  • Building strong boards
  • Advocacy and community impact

Training is delivered by Hedges and the ILF Advocacy Committee.

Registration FAQs

  • Should staff attend?
    Directors and school librarians are encouraged to attend with their trustees and administrators.
  • Hotel block?
    Yes, but attendees are responsible for booking.
  • How to register?
    Members may register themselves or provide login access. Non-members may use guest registration. Registering will require the creation of a profile in the system. Give us a call at 317-257-2040 if you run into any issues.
  • Cost?
    No charge + mileage reimbursement (49¢/mile). There will be a form sent after the event to request mileage reimbursement.
  • Mileage reimbursement?
    Submit one form per library after training.
  • Meals?
    Breakfast and lunch are included.
